According to the SANAS website, their responsibility is:

SANAS is responsible for carrying out accreditations in respect of conformity assessments mandated through the Accreditation for Conformity Assessment, Calibration and Good Laboratory Practice Act (Act 19 of 2006).

We are directed and legally represented by a Board of Directors whose members are appointed by the Minister of Trade and Industry.

The Board delegates to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SANAS have the responsibility to implement the SANAS policies and objectives. The CEO delegates decisions concerning the granting, extending, suspending or withdrawing of accreditation to the Approval Committee Chairperson.

Originally established to carry out physical tests in the name of Metrology or the precise definition and compliance of Volumetric and Gravimetric Instruments, as well as mandatory pressure testing of boilers and other public risk machinery.

These services have now vastly extended to Laboratory compliance, B-BBEE rating agencies and certain management procedures.

Customers frequently as us for a SANAS accreditation of our products and services.

While SANAS has a certification management procedure, that is, ensuring that an annual certification has been timeously completed, they are NOT accredited to certificate Konica Minolta Instruments. In fact, no external company is accredited to Certificate a Konica Minolta instrument other than those authorised by Konica Minolta.
